Pregnancy

Pregnancy is the physiological condition in which a woman carries and nurtures one or more developing embryos or fetuses within her uterus. It typically occurs after the fertilization of an egg by a sperm, leading to the formation of a zygote, which then develops into an embryo and eventually a fetus. Pregnancy is characterized by various biological changes in the mother’s body, including hormonal, anatomical, and metabolic adjustments, to support the growing offspring. The duration of a typical human pregnancy is approximately 40 weeks, counted from the first day of the last menstrual period, and is divided into three trimesters. Pregnancy culminates in childbirth, when the fetus is delivered, marking the transition from intrauterine life to independent existence.
