Football

Football, known as soccer in some countries, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net. The game is played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with a goal at each end. Players primarily use their feet to maneuver the ball, but they can also use other parts of their body, except for the arms and hands (the goalkeeper is an exception and can use their hands within the penalty area).

Football is governed by a set of rules called the Laws of the Game, which are maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). It is played at both amateur and professional levels, with major international tournaments like the FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championship showcasing the sport on a global scale. Football is celebrated for its simplicity, accessibility, and the ability to foster teamwork and community, making it one of the most popular sports worldwide.
